hmm, let's think about something of great pertinence to us, something that's next to the hottest topic in town (which is of course, how Mas Selamat got apprehended while having his morning roti prata at a roadside stall)...and that's the swine flu! code named H1N1 by the WHO, the swine flu hit the human populance with such impact (hmm...impact..hmm..more about this later) that everyone was caught with their pants down...ok, maybe not with their pants down, but caught unaware..and thus, with the numerous deaths everywhere, the world shifted into 'epidemic is possible mode', activating all their previous SARS protocols...And with the multi-layered checks and stuff, the swine flu seems like it's of epidemic proportions...and now the relaxation because WHO realised..hmm..swine flu is not as contagious as previously thought..hmm...(FACT: do you know that the common flu kills hundreds of thousands of ppl a year, with 600+ ppl dying in S'pore alone from common flu last year?)..in fact, if swine flu was to be ranked 'epidemic', i guess we should already be in alert black for common flu...since it mows down the human flocks by the thousands every year...in contrary..swine flu has only claimed a few hundreds...
and what's with the mask wearing of the people? just following a trend? or following misleading information? the common surgical masks donned by the 'ppl who fear that they might catch swine flu' category of ppl, are little more than pieces of napkins over their mouths and noses! it can't filter bacteria for goodness sake...read the instructions! it's a mere piece of cotton..or worse, the cheapo made in you-noe-where brands are literally pieces of wax papers! they are suitable only for keeping out respiratory droplets...which, as droplets, would soak into the mask....erhem..then doesn't that sound like the work of a handkerchief? yes! in fact, it does!!! ahha! caught by the smart handed tactics of the PR gangs! (FACT: you need n95 masks...what's n95? basically a mask which filters out 95% of particulate matter...but hey! what about the 5%??????? if a swine flu bug is in that 5%, congratulations! you've struck the jackpot!)
actually, the best solution for swine flu now would be social distancing, and isolation! lock down the borders! ban the flights...quarantine everyone with the remotest possibility of being infected..or....you could simply go out and run everyday, and not coop yourself at home doing work non stop so that you could build up your immune system...
ahhhh..and don't forget, grandma's chicken soup! it's proven to be highly efficacious at reducing the duration of a bout of cold and flu......so whatcha say now about grandma's ramblings...hoho....
